The first of the eight teams to compete will be the #GEBCO-NF Alumni team. They've married a Kongsberg Maritime AUV with an uncrewed boat called SEA-KIT, which has been designed and built by Hush Craft in the UK.

And so it begins. The first finalist in the #ShellOceanDiscoveryXPrize heads out to the 500 sq km competition zone. At least 250 sq km to be mapped at depths down to 4,000m, and 10 items of interest to be imaged. All inside 24hrs.
