A token shield is an innovative concept enabled by our Reactive Smart Contracts and Coinweb-native tokens. It ensures the integrity of transactions between a blockchain's native token contract (wrapped token) and a Coinweb-native token (base token) at an individual account level.

Primary purpose of a token shield is to ensure the redemption of the underlying L1's native token contract (wrapped token) into the Coinweb-native token (base token), even in scenarios like a bridge hack. This guarantee extends to both passive and indirect holders of the tokens.

Indirect holders, including those with Uniswap v2 LP tokens, Uniswap v3 NFTs, and liquidity mining tokens, can be covered by the token shield if configured accordingly. This offers an additional layer of protection for a diverse range of token holders.

Importantly, a token shield doesn't depend on a specific bridging mechanism and can work seamlessly with various techniques like multi-sig, native, or optimistic bridging. This versatility enhances its effectiveness as a robust security measure.
