Year 3 have had a refreshing outdoor afternoon using compasses to explore magnetism.

Our intrepid Year 6 archaeologists have uncovered the ruins of an ancient civilisation in the woods this afternoon. In class we have been learning about the Indus Valley civilization (c.2,600 BCE).

An unexpected tidal surge at Ashbridge is greeted with smiles all round ( and a great reminder of why waterproofs are essential for Forest School)!

Following Outdoor Classroom Day yesterday, Year 5 & 6 AGT Maths have calculated the age of the Oak in the meadow to be approximately 150 years old. To do this they have used the formula (circumference/Pi) x growth rate (as defined by the International Society of Arboriculture).

Kingfishers have been down to the river to have our first fire session! We have learnt about being safe by the fire, what we need to start one and sang a campfire song. "It looks like a dragons breath" "Look at the smoke!" #KingfishersClass #RiverSchool #outdoorlearning

Ashbridge Party is in full swing. For all those birthdays we missed over the last year, happy birthday.

We held the first meeting of our School Council Leadership Team this morning. Their ideas will be presented to the full School Council for discussion and debate next week.

We have just found out that we have been awarded the Gold quality mark for learning outside the classroom awarded by the Council for Learning Outside the Classroom. This recognises exemplary provision in schools and indicates that a school is a leader in the field of LOtC.

I was lucky enough to spend yesterday with our wonderful Year 5 and 6 on their mountain day in the Lake District. We had a superb day!

Trying out a bit of outdoor sleeping with Upper Juniors using our new hammocks. A few of them did actually fall asleep to have a wonderfully relaxing outdoor sleeping experience.

Year 1 have been using foraged berries and fruits to create food for the fairies in Forest School this morning.

Year 4 AGT Maths are comparing 4 digit numbers and calculating difference using playing cards. Selecting 8 random cards, their challenge is to create two 4 digit numbers with the smallest difference.

My Year 4 Maths group are subtracting numbers with decimals using the formal written method.

School Council led our Harvest Festival this afternoon. In it we explored how all the food in the world is shared between the continents.
