Finally put our 3D printed reef tiles out at #HHWMP! The terracotta tiles are designed to facilitate outplantation, and create microhabitats - it is amazing to see the little critters exploring the tiles! Thanks to #AFCD, #BakerLab, #FabLab and everyone who helped out!

Just about everyone I’ve ever interviewed or photographed while covering the 2014 protests — at the start of my career — and the 2019 protests has been arrested, is in jail, or in exile. The entire cast of characters of the story of democracy in Hong Kong gone in one fell swoop.

We've had a very interesting and productive week at the “Theory and practice in metabarcoding for biodiversity” workshop. It has been so nice to interact with 35 young metabarcoders from all across the globe! A big thank you to all participants!!! #ibiogen #H2020 #metabarcoding

The latest issue of Science has a cover story about new research on sunscreens and coral reefs, a popular subject. The prominent exposure may play into some misconceptions about what is happening to the world's coral reefs (mini-🧵)

Happy to be part of the field camp again as a demonstrator this year! Spent three days teaching students ecology in the same field site as I did in my undergrad year, just the same as how Felix Landry Yuan had taught me years ago :)

It is finally published! Through UVC we found 31 new reef fish records in Hong Kong. None of these records were found in any established marine parks/reserve areas, implying more protected areas are need to safeguard yet to be known biodiversity. cambridge.org/core/journals/…

My first PhD chapter is out! We explored mercy release—a growing practice of species introductions—and hybrid groupers, notorious predators. These fish prey on diverse species, risking coastal ecosystems if unmanaged.I hope this research inspires more attention on mercy release!
