$GLD - The daily volume(62 million) was the highest daily volume since April 2013 and before that August 2011. The Weekly volume wasn't as high as August 2011 because the rest of the week was up. If GLD declines next week on a higher weekly volume this could signal a major top.

Consumption determines living standards. China's consumption is less than 40% of GDP compared to 70% in the USA. And, China's GDP is overstated by one third. Also, the quality of China's GDP is low, it net exports much of its GDP, the communist elite mostly benefit, etc..

It's the components and subcomponents of GDP that are important. GDP is a generalization that adds everything up. For example, if China spends 20% of household consumption on food and the USA spends 5%, that's notable.
