So its out Genome Biology: genomebiology.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.11…. All you need to know about DNA methylation in annelids🪱! This has been a great collaboration with the Martín-Durán lab lab, led by kero guynes. One of the main findings is that the methylome erodes throughout development and beyond! 1/
Our short report on a remarkable feature of #ctenophores out now: Reverse development in the ctenophore Mnemiopsis. We show that Mnemiopsis is capable of reversal from mature lobate to early cydippid🤩. Michael Sars Centre Universitetet i Bergen bioRxiv #rejuvenation biorxiv.org/content/10.110…
What if you could deliver molecular tools directly into oocytes without microinjection? In our new paper, online today Development (doi.org/10.1242/dev.20…), we introduce VitelloTag, a new cargo delivery tool to enable injection-free genome editing. 👇Read on for a short 🧵
New WormBook.org chapter! With Nuria Flames Lab and Richard Poole we wrote Neurogenesis in C. elegans, now in Genetics: doi.org/10.1093/geneti… We discuss neuron development specifically, but do have a look if you think about acquisition of cell identity more generally
Major effort from the lab (💪Robert Frömel), finally on biorxiv: We built 60,000 fully synthetic enhancers and measured their cell state specific activity during blood stem cell differentiation. Why did we do that and what did we learn🧵? biorxiv.org/content/10.110…
It is challenging to study the ability of transcription factors to engage their motifs in the cell. We tried to address this in our new study together with Marco (Marco Pregnolato), Schübeler Lab, and FMI science: cell.com/molecular-cell…
Happy to see this online, our new review/bioinformatic investigation on the origin and evolution of microvilli: onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/bo… - also our first (but not last) collaboration with Gautam Dey's lab!
Thrilled to announce that I’ve been awarded an #ERCStG by the European Research Council (ERC)! We aim to uncover the timing and mechanisms of mammalian male germline mutation, as well as explore how primates lower their somatic mutation rates. The lab will be hiring soon—stay tuned!
