For men, having a wife is a predictor of cancer survival. Meanwhile women with cancer have a very high rate of having their husbands leave them. Sickness and health, indeed.

I hate this narrative that disabled people should build community so we won't have to rely on services. Maybe instead, people should be focusing on the people that abandon their friends and community members when they become too disabled. Disability is isolating.

So what is a geopolitical view or perspective? Is the climate crisis? Is the war on Ukraine? Are mass shootings? Is White supremacy? Can we no longer say Black Lives Matter on our doors? Bans Off Our Bodies? Those too are geopolitical perspectives.

Similar to childcare, elder care is set up with the assumption that there is a dutiful wife/daughter/sister/daughter in law that can simply do this care for free. If you don’t have that, or the women in your life need to work, you will end up spending hundreds of thousands.
