Misty has been at ARF for most of her adult life. Now 11 yrs old, this petite 8 lb beauty is long overdue for a 🏠 Misty is a quiet, but still very active 🐈‍⬛ whose favorite pastime is to be perched up high near a window, overlooking all that surrounds her. & she loves to give 💋

Meet Little Tonka, affectionately called “Tonka Truck.” This Chihuahua mix is cute as a button & loves to play. He may be 7, but he certainly doesn't let it show. While Tonka is 🐶 friendly, he is looking to be your one and only. He simply cannot share the spotlight, or cookies!

Froggy came to ARF just last week through our OpCat program. This two-year-old, handsome tabby cat was found by a Good Samaritan who noticed how friendly he was while doing figure eights around her legs. Froggy is a sweet, lovable kitty who enjoys being petted! Meet him today.

Ernie is just one of the 15 puppies that were rescued last weekend from SC with the help of our partner, Fostering Foster & w/support from the Irving and Phyllis Millstein Foundation for Animal Welfare. Full of puppy cuteness & potential, Ernie is eager to be your best friend.

Duo Gavin & Mila, both 3-years-old, came to ARF last year after helping to ease the burden at the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter. Since arriving at ARF, these kitties have become inseparable. They are known to share just about everything, including meals and a bed. 💕

When asked about Lassie, the ARF staff describe her as “sweet" and "exuberant," & they went on to say, “she has come a long way.” This beautiful 1.5 year-old Lab mix is playful with both people & other dogs. She walks well on leash & she has mastered the sit and down commands.

Taffy is slowly adjusting to life at the adoption center. Taffy would do best in a home with other cats to help build her confidence and bring out her true personality. Once you win her over, this adorable five-month-old kitten is affectionate and playful.

Nova may be 2 yrs old & 60 pounds, but she's still a puppy at heart! Rescued from Georgia, this goofy girl is outgoing, social and loves to play with toys. Nova is a happy, curious dog working on her obedience training, which will be important to her success in her new home.

925, that is the number of days Janet has been at ARF, and that is far too long for this beautiful kitty! She does have IBD and requires a special diet, but this girl more than makes up for it with her striking good looks and darling personality. 😻

This precious puppy is Pasquals. As far as puppies go, Pasquals & his 5 littermates are a relatively calm bunch, & they are on their way to being house-trained! Pasquals is already 28 lbs & growing quickly. He is extremely smart, and he is standing by to be your new best friend.

Julie came from a hoarding situation. Her light green eyes are mesmerizing, & her affection can be bought w/ the help of her favorite chicken treats. This independent kitty is low-maintenance & likes 🐱 she just needs the right person who can help her come out of her shell

Easter and her 5 littermates are lucky to be alive. They were found starving, freezing, & terrified, after an unknown assailant dumped them in the woods. Luckily, w/the help of Fostering Foster they are now safely at ARF. Help us find them the happy ending they deserve.

Beautiful Milo is 18 months old, but he’s really just a big puppy at heart. This affectionate, energetic 🐶 gets along with other dogs & loves his playtime. Milo is always up for a good run & his favorite game is fetch! Don’t let his initial shyness fool you, he warms up quickly

At 17 yrs old, Phoebe knows what she wants: good food, lots of pets, & someone to love. She's happy to peacefully 💤 the day away, & while she's moving a bit slower these days due to arthritis, she'd love to live out her golden yrs in a home that's worthy of her "cattitude."

ARF is looking for 🐶trainers. As we prepare to launch our new training program this summer in our new Training Center, we are expanding our roster of trainers. Trainers should be LIMA compliant & comfortable leading group classes. Send a letter of interest [email protected]

All you need to do is spend just one moment with Shamu and you will be in love. This adorable kitten, with her precious pink nose, has quickly won over the entire staff since coming to ARF. Super sweet & friendly, Shamu is curious & fun-filled, but she also loves a good cuddle.

Gordy is a loving & playful dog who has been working hard at building his confidence in new situations. This handsome, 6-yr/old Hound mix finds security and guidance in the people he knows, and once he bonds, it’s forever. Gordy is a smart dog who knows his obedience commands. 💕
