It's always such a pleasure when a building one used to love when it was new still absolutely warrants appreciation when you visit it 25yrs later, and Michael Wilford's British Embassy in Berlin is one such building

2/2 & then on the inside is a total fucking hellsmouth nightmare of abstracted rationalist lintels & columns like the building is being eaten alive by a monstrous architectural tumor. The whole thing is so completely disconcerting, a zombie movie flecked with fragments of Disney

This building is such an absolute miracle, Schinkel 😘😘😘😘, and whoever was responsible for glazing-in its entrance and ruining tbe spatial sequencing should never be allowed near any building ever again

The central of the three towers in Potsdamerplatz in Berlin is a typically robust and ever so slightly romantic design by Hans Kollhoff

Visiting Germany is always a balm for my soul because it reminds me that in the UK we aren't the only Europeans with so much ugly contemporary architecture. Heres one trying very hard to be nice in Berlin
