It's always such a pleasure when a building one used to love when it was new still absolutely warrants appreciation when you visit it 25yrs later, and Michael Wilford's British Embassy in Berlin is one such building

2/2 & then on the inside is a total fucking hellsmouth nightmare of abstracted rationalist lintels & columns like the building is being eaten alive by a monstrous architectural tumor. The whole thing is so completely disconcerting, a zombie movie flecked with fragments of Disney

This building is such an absolute miracle, Schinkel 😘😘😘😘, and whoever was responsible for glazing-in its entrance and ruining tbe spatial sequencing should never be allowed near any building ever again

Seeing fragments of prewar Berlin like the stunning Neue Wache by Schinkel makes the heart ache at what was lost.
