These leaves from the Green River Formation of Utah look incredibly fresh, even though they came to rest on a lake bed 50 million years ago! #FossilFriday 🍂

My 25 years of palaeoart chronology... A 2014 acrylic painting, called Trilobite Dingle. It features an othrocone, crinoids, a large graptolite, a gastropod, brachiopods, and two species of trilobite (Parabasilicus and Salterolithus). #PaleoArt #SciArt #SciComm #FossilFriday

Resharing a diagram of Bahariya Formation angiosperms which I made a few years ago, because I had a dream about a Bahariya plant fossil last night. #FossilFriday #paleobotany #plants #paleontology #paleoart

For #Fossilfriday : a fish that regrets its decisions. Actually a Mioplosus fossil fish next to a Crocodile coprolite (poop). From the Green River formation of Wyoming. Eocene in age (roughly 50 million years old).

Nautiluses (Family Nautilidae) might seem pretty different from other cephalopods, and that's because they are! Nautiloids diverged from other cephalopods 420 mya, so nautiloids and coleoids have very different limbs, eyes and of course, very different shells.

Wonderful memories of #Mizzou Ranjeev was super lucky to have the best office mates ever He would sometimes find #clams on his desk but occasionally #brachiopods invade! This was a pretty severe invasion as one of them tried to steal my clam data through a USB port ❤️😁

I had an idea while watching #Paleostream for a thermal image of speculative thermogenesis (heat production) in a #bennettitalean cone, so I quickly painted it! It's just an idea, but I'd like to explore its potential more! #paleobotany #paleoart #paleontology #botany #plants
