#OTD 1948 Mary Tourtel, creator of Rupert the Bear, dies aged 74 at the Kent and Canterbury Hospital, a week after she collapsed in Canterbury High Street from a brain tumour. She was buried with her husband at St Martin's Church, #Canterbury.

This one is from kentphotoarchive.org.uk St George's Street #Canterbury. #Kent Of all those buildings only the church tower survives, and that's lost its spire. All flattened in the Baedeker Raids 1942. (Are those small boys on their way to school?)
