Described as 'simply massive'! A wild boar has been spotted along the Nidd River near Harrogate, no doubt having made its way down from the dales.

As with we have seen with deer will the coronavirus lockdown result in a faster spread of wild boar throughout the British countryside?

Is this the new face of Wild-Boar in the UK? A Mangalica roaming free (well sort of) on the Isle of Purbeck, Dorset. Thank you to Mike Howlett for the image.

While we are on the Mangalica theme - another picture of this unusual breed. The closest relative of our own native wild-boar... some say, more resemblance to sheep!

Sika - The Blue Pool, Furzebrook Estate, Dorset. First introd. to Poole Harbour in 1895 at Hyde House Park, a small group the following year on Brownsea Island. The deer on Brownsea were seen swimming from the island to the mainland the same night! Thanks Dan Rushton Photography

Expecting a few 'doubting Thomas's' but...The Blue Pool, Furzebrook Estate. A brown mammal with a white throat descend from a tree. Larger than a cat, with the gait of a mustelid... could it be a rare Pine Marten, Isle of Purbeck! #springwatch #furzebrookestate #bluepooltearooms

Photo of a majestic (and slightly demonic looking) Sika stag on the Furzebrook Estate nr The Blue Pool Wareham on the Isle of Purbeck. The Isle of Purbeck offers perhaps the greatest density of Sika in Europe. Beautiful to see but devastating for the woodlands and heath.
