Several common blue butterflies roosting up in the newly restored meadow yesterday evening is another good sign that our nature recovery work is making a difference. NE_WestMids Butterfly Conservation 🦋.

Hay making at last…an important part of the management of species-rich meadows. This meadow restoration has been a real success by Louise Adams.

Still flowering today. A meadow that under went restoration last autumn & not mown yet. Like a mid-summer’s day! BSBI: Botanical Society of Britain & Ireland #wildflowerhour.

Tree planting last year in Mayfield with White Peak Farmers - volunteers needed for this year. Aiming to restore over 100 acres of grassland, increase the abundance of wildflowers for pollinating insects and help link up wildlife habitats.

A really informative day & look at soils with Niels Corfield. A lot of useful tips on how to improve soil health. Take home message is just how important crumbly soils are for water infiltration & crop growth. Lots to think about!

It’s been a wet year but managed to squeeze in seeding plots today for #floodplainmeadow restoration. Mix of hand collected seed thanks to our amazing volunteers Mayfield Village & others. Orchids, great burnet, knapweed, bft, meadow vetchling, ragged-robin plus more. Floodplain Meadows Partnership

Mayfield volunteers with White Peak Farmers in 3 yrs have restored 48ha of habitat, grown & planted >9000 #wildflower plug plants, collected & sown >460kg of wildflower seed from local sites, created/restored 11 ponds, enhanced 225m ditch, planted 325m of #hedges & >500 #trees!

Amazing work delivered through our facilitation group & with Severn Trent funding. So much can be achieved when people work together. Increasing and connecting wetland habitats and features on the river and floodplain has brought us an unexpected visitor this winter, a great white egret! Not good news if you're a frog or fish though...😬 StaffsWildlife 🦔🍄🦇 Dove Catchment Partnership BTO West Midland Bird Club

First record for Staffordshire apparently: Dactylorhiza fucshii var. rhodochila #wildflowerhour BSBI: Botanical Society of Britain & Ireland from an unimproved meadow.

What a wonderful day we had showing everyone around, celebrating the work our farmers are doing & talking about how #naturefriendlyfarmers can be supported more & some of the challenges farmers face.
