FDK 7 has been having fun playing our new favourite literacy game by adding letter wands to a game of musical books! Students move around the carpet to music & sit in front of a book when it stops. As they read they look for words that contain their letter. HWDSB Viola Desmond Elementary School

Sound walls are deepening our students knowledge of letter sounds.

This is ONE way to use decodable readers! Break up those pages into individual sentences and play musical sentences!

The grade 5 class listens every week to the announcements to hear the Phonics Fact. They challenge themselves to find as many words as they can that follow that rule. GREAT WORK grade 5's.

Way to go class 5B. They took the Friday phonics rule and brainstormed lists of words that followed the phonics rule. GREAT WORK.

We are 100 days smarter! So many fun activities happening at our school. We even have some 100 year old teachers making an appearance.
