Dr Qasim has been a dedicated advocate for patient safety and a strong voice for doctors nationwide. If I could vote, he would have my full support in the Royal College of Physicians elections. Strong, principled leadership like his is essential for the future direction of the RCP.

And lastly we are so much the poorer for not having elected Dr Asif Qasim, who I won’t tag to remove criticism of him. The leader we truly needed. What a loss. An absolute travesty. If paying Members could vote he would have had a landslide. Who represents us now? No one.
