Today marks 40 years since the end of the Falklands War. Today we remember those who have given so much and thank them for their bravery and sacrifice.

Today marks the 40th anniversary of the end of the Falklands conflict. We pay tribute to the military operation that liberated the Falkland Islands. And we remember the sacrifice of the 255 service personnel who never came home.

Some people will get it. My old man missed out on going to the Falklands in 1982. 20 years later I missed out on going to Iraq & 8 years after that I missed out on half an Afghan tour as an OC. “Missing Out” creates difficult & lasting emotions. Guilt, envy, disappointment…

Today was the bloodiest day of the Afghan war for British troops. The scars of this day run deep years later - so proud of all those who did what they could, and still think about that day every day. Extraordinary sacrifice. Thinking of the families of those who fell.

Politics is tough.. but not that tough when you meet people like Rob who is now a tetraplegic from his time in Service. He just wanted a photo; I was privileged to be able to give him a wheelchair from the Oppo Foundation at a hotel in London last night.. He inspires me.
