U.S. forces aren't holding back on the mission to sink the entire Iranian Navy. Today, an Iranian drone carrier, roughly the size of a WWII aircraft carrier, was struck and is now on fire.

🇨🇳 has over 5,000 flagged ships engaged in international trade, compared to only around 100 🇺🇸, which gives them a massive advantage in civilian intelligence gathering on the seas.

Some perspective. The American submarine that sank the Iranian warship was launched the same year that the first text message was sent... and still a lethal apex predator. We have 38 newer ones and adding two more this year

“A diversified fleet mixing in smaller platforms also protects both the Navy and nation financially. There are more shipyards capable of small ships warship construction, spreading the workload and reducing the risk of relying on just a few large shipyards to build capital

#OTD in 1968, the Soviet submarine K-129 sank in the Pacific. After the U.S. found the wreck, the CIA began the top secret mission "Project Azorian" to recover the sub and its nuclear missiles using a ship with a giant hidden claw. The CIA claims only a section was recovered

Interesting thread. While I don’t fully agree on the cause for the decline of U.S. shipbuilding, or the solution (full repeal of Jones Act), I do believe the JA build requirement needs revised. I would be very happy if the US had roughly 2-5% share of international shipbuilding.

Everyone...there is no need to panic about mines. The US Navy has kept four mine countermeasure vessels in the Persian Gulf for the past 35 years. These ships and crews have trained for this very circumstance. WAIT...what is that? The minesweepers just arrived in

Legasov (@legasovanalytic) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Speaking from experience these ships were almost never available and locked to the pier due to maintenance issues. They needed to be decommissioned. However, the Navy not having an adequate replacement isn’t acceptable and will only be corrected when something bad happens.
