There was once a beautiful bee orchid near the physics block, the biggest I have ever seen. 5 weeks, and in its place cut grass.
Near Rootes, a colony of them, mown flat since March
And yet 'my' early purple orchid stands defiant in the shade

Back to Samphire Hoe today, ,plenty of Early Spiders on show ,but probably past their best. Along the beach and on the cliff sides ,they,re at there full height .Found a pale specimen ,which i thought was a faded flower ,but now not sure +1 of interest,for later on! Wild Orchids UK & Ireland
