I came from the poetry community. When I discovered US genre community, I was often confused by the signs / symbols, like worship of Heinlein. My early mentors were Jane Stuart, Meredith Ann Pierce, Enid Shomer. Anyway, useful thread. The mono-culture they insist upon is a myth.
