Therese Bertheau (1861-1936) was a top Norwegian climber: 1st woman to ascend Storen, in 1894. She got into climbing by working as a translator for tourists. She inspired British climber William Cecil Slingsby, helping him with a book on Norway & introducing him to composer Grieg

Finally got around to listening to @themarshtit talking about geese. Made me yearn to be back among the sights and sounds of the Northumbrian coast - a week is never enough! Looking forward to getting my hands on Nick's book asap. theplanetpod.com/the-meaning-of…

1/3: Went to see 'Stories of St James's Burial Ground' at St James's, Piccadilly - it's one of the best historical interpretations I've seen. These figures, made of cardboard, depict former parishioners of the church, and have a real haunting presence...

Awfy dreich at #CathkinMarsh today. Even so, singing willow warbler, sedge warbler and whitethroat, reeling grasshopper warbler and roding snipe confirmed that it is indeed spring. Back home to thaw out with hot coffee! #My200BirdYear

#OnePlaceWednesday I'm delighted to announce that I've been awarded a REF Microgrant by Rutherglen Community Council to develop a new tour of #RutherglenCemetery. The tour will use stories of past residents to tell the history of #Rutherglen 1800-1939. Can't wait to get started!

On a 1921 census record for a client, a couple who both give their occupation as 'theatrical artiste' and their employer as Hubert Woodward in the production The Girl in the Taxi... aaaand away I go down the 1920s musical theatre rabbit hole! 😆

So many projects in progress but very little actual progress. Trying to scrape together some sort of plan... #overwhelmed #executivefunctionfail

Advice needed please #Genealogy The National Probate Calendar for 1888 jumps from p427 to p430 on Ancestry UK. I believe the record I want is in the gap. UK probate search fails to find the record so I am assuming they have the same gap. Is there a way to obtain the record?

Trying to make some progress on the family reconstitution aspect of my #OnePlaceStudy for #WestwardAndBoltons by taking part in this weekend's #July2023ConnectAThon. Hoping the competitive aspect will help me stay on task. ☕️☕️☕️

Today I'm reviewing the profiles I added to my #OPS on WikiTree during last weekend's Connect-a-thon. Adding sources, tidying up the formatting, planning next steps. #OnePlaceWednesday

Benchmarks in your British #OnePlaceStudy? See if you can track them down via the OS Benchmark Archive interactivemaps.uk/os-benchmark-a… or the Bench Mark Database bench-marks.org.uk/search, and find out more about them at Wikipedia en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Benchmark…. #OnePlaceWednesday

That's it, I'm out. First, a complete break while I try to sort some stuff out. After that, I expect I'll be back on social media in some form or another... but I doubt it will be here. See you all anon.
