Cary Countdown Sir George Cary was a royalist. After the Restoration of 1660, Charles II acknowledged Sir George’s loyalty by presenting him with a copy of Van Dyck’s portrait of the children of Charles I. This painting still hangs in the dining room at Torre abbey today.
