Looking forward to speaking at this year’s Scotonomics Festival of Economics this weekend in Dundee on behalf of (CLES) Centre for Local Economic Strategies about #people #place and #planet Participants can join in person or online. More info here: scotonomics.scot/festival-of-ec…

Gender inequality is highly relevant to the question of how we build strong and inclusive local economies. New research and analysis from us (CLES) Centre for Local Economic Strategies, Women's Budget Group and Leeds Council News.

Powerful words on how we need to put women at the heart of our economic strategies Mayor Tracy Brabin WY 🌹 responding to the Launch of our new report on gender equality. 👏👏👏

The newly published research from (CLES) Centre for Local Economic Strategies Women's Budget Group & Leeds Council News is sobering stuff. The barriers to paid work encountered by women in Leeds has risen by 7% in the last year. This has huge economic & social impact. It's time to rewire the economy around inclusivity!

Heading home after a fascinating weekend at Scotonomics The insightful discussion, varied topics & generous speakers were a delight - my head is buzzing! I was honoured to play a small part & talk about #communitywealthbuilding for (CLES) Centre for Local Economic Strategies with Neil McInroy & John Alexander.

Fine words from our friends and colleagues at The King's Fund. Agreed, let’s give ICSs a proper go and let’s work with them and Combined Authorities to tackle health inequalities and address the wider determinants.

I was really pleased to be able to write this piece for Joseph Rowntree Foundation on how local places can rethink wealth and build solutions to hardship - drawing on our work (CLES) Centre for Local Economic Strategies

As David Buck (also @davidjbuck.bsky.social) and Luca Tiratelli argued last week ICSs need to be given time to find their feet.. But, we need better devo arrangements. No more growth growth’s sake deals. We need broader targets for CAs to address the wider determinants. STAT!!

Great to launch the report (CLES) Centre for Local Economic Strategies has written with Cwmpas for ColegauCymru | CollegesWales on Social Value in Welsh Further Education. Chaired by John Griffiths MS MS and response by Welsh Government Education Secretry Lynne Neagle - read the report here👉 buff.ly/4d3xM1f

Today we launch Changing places - a new paper from David Burch that looks to the future of social value and provides a rallying call to action for place-based leaders to forge ahead in their pursuit of social value excellence. Read it here 🔗 ow.ly/tlvi50RncrO

New paper from us and our friends at NEF, Co-operatives UK and Centre for Thriving Places (inactive)! Some great stuff happening in our combined authorities to build inclusive economies. With more devolution and less growth for growth’s sake deal making from Westminster these areas could really fly!

Were hosting 4️⃣ important conversations about the future of #communitywealthbuilding and the final one, on 26 November, will focus on health, featuring Jennifer Connolly, Centre for Thriving Places (inactive)' Rachel Laurence and Ben Barr. Book here: cles.org.uk/conversations

What role can devolution play in tackling health inequalities? Pleased to have worked on this new report with The King's Fund and (CLES) Centre for Local Economic Strategies colleagues to explore these issues, and think through the potential of devolution under a new government.
