A lot of people criticise the US electoral college for being ludicrous but I don't think it's ever produced as skewed a result as the first past the post system did in the UK in 2024. Trudeau and Albanese have won in the past despite losing the popular vote.

Bottom line in my opinion: you can’t say something as serious as “Donald Trump is a threat to the country” while doing something as unserious as the Biden re-election premise. The urgency of the Democratic message was undercut by their own actions
