On #WorldMilkDay (June 1) the dairy industry tells you that human beings need to drink the milk of another species in order to be healthy. Milk production requires young cows, which are taken away from their mother, and - if they are male - killed for meat. Just drink plant milk

I'm sorry I couldn't save you 🥺 They took the only thing that you owned: your precious life. You were more than a property and a slave. We see you. We remember you. We keep fighting for animal liberation for as long as our hearts still beat ❤️ ✌️ Joey Carbstrong

Dank.

"Mankind's true moral test, its fundamental test (...), consists of its attitude towards those who are at its mercy: animals. And in this respect mankind has suffered a fundamental debacle, a debacle so fundamental that all others stem from it." RIP #milankundera

UGent, Rik Van de Walle vrt.be/vrtnws/nl/2023…

Have you noticed how just about anybody brings up the term "ultra-processed" when you talk about meat alternatives these days? That's a word that's being whispered in our ears by the meat industry, as this interesting article explains. linkedin.com/feed/update/ur…

Every year, a staggering 18 billion animals are killed that do NOT end up on our plate, say researchers at Leiden University. That's 16 BN male chicks, 300 MLN pigs, 400 ML turkeys, 195 MLN sheep and 189 MLN goats. They died for no reason. universiteitleiden.nl/en/news/2023/1…

Of all the arguments that people who eat meat say to vegans in order to defend eating animals, this is no doubt the worst: "Live and let live."

Is the animal rights movement too left-leaning to be successful? My new substack post addresses the question of how we can be successful in an ever more right-of-center political climate. tobiasleenaert.substack.com/p/helping-anim…
