Exceptional numbers of Common Gulls in Cork Harbour at the moment: 719 in Saleen-Whitegate on the I-WeBS count and over 1000 at the pre-roost gathering in Lough Beg in the evening Lough Beg Reserve

Only 66 Sandwich Terns at the Lough Beg roost this evening, compared to typical autumn peaks at this time of 400 - 1000 birds. The downward trend that started in 2022 has continued and they seem to have almost disappeared from Cork Harbour this autumn Lough Beg Reserve BirdWatch Ireland

The terns have finally arrived in Cork Harbour this autumn with a mixed flock of 220 Sandwich Terns, 100 Common Terns, at least 15 Roseate Terns and a few Arctics at Roches Point this morning
