ICYMI Here is the Springbok team for the 1st Test v Ireland on Sat. The Boks have obviously gone for experience and a 6-2 split on the bench, with 20 of the players named having been in the World Cup winning squad that won the title v the All Blacks in Oct last year. #Springboks

You can add Mert Günok's save to similar memorable ones through the years! The first such save - and the most famous was one - was Gordon Banks' save v Péle and Brazil during WC1970. There was also the Peter Schmeichel's save v Rapid Vienna in the CL in 1996. #EURo2024 #AUTTUR

I saw that the Springboks dropped their promo clip for the upcoming 1st Test on Saturday. Quite good, I thought, and felt it adds just the necessary spice to an already hotly anticipated match-up between the two sides! See it here and see what you think. #Springboks #RSAvIRE

Not often Handré Pollard misses a kickable penalty, never mind three! Bit of a surprise that today. Fine margins decided the Test match in the end. And the awarded/disallowed tries involving James Lowe were pivotal in that regard as there was only 7 points in the match. #RSAvIRE

The Tony Brown influence on the Springboks can already be seen. Today, the Boks hardly kicked in the 1st half and rarely used the maul either, preferring to stretch play down the lines. In the end, a good win for the Boks, but the Irish took it to the wire. #Springboks #RSAvIRE

With systems crashing and affecting anything from airports to surgeries to banks around the world, I'm reminded of Die Hard 4 and how cyber attacks can paralyse a city or country. This Crowdstrike failure shows how easy it is to cause chaos worldwide. #Microsoft #Crowdstrike

This ceremony has certainly been different and memorable. Instead of an endless parade of athletes walking into a stadium, we saw the beauty of Paris with the teams on barges down the Seine. Plus, it helped by having continuous breaks. #OpeningCeremony    #Paris2024

Saw this morning that 'facial' is trending in UK since yesterday. On closer inspection I see that sadly it's not what I thought it would be about. In fact, when I opened my first post and saw that Starmer was speaking, I was briefly interested in what he may admit to. Alas, no.

An emphatic and complete performance by the Boks v Australia. They dominated in the forwards and showed innovation in the backs. In a way the score flatters the Aussies who only scored in 76th min when two players up. Only the Boks 4th ever win in Brisbane. #Springboks #AUSvRSA

The paucity of talent in current Australian rugby was on view in Perth today. The scoreline flattered the Wallabies, who never looked like scoring a try, and had to resort to questionable front-row selections to nullify Bok power in the scrum. Well done Boks. #Springboks #AUSvRSA

Great resilience by the Springboks to beat the All Blacks today! The ABs continually pounced on Bok mistakes, when Boks tried to play a more expansive game, and led by 10 points with 15mins left, but the Boks went back to type and scored two tries to win. 👍 #Springboks #RSAvNZL

Well done Boks! Back-to-back wins v the All Blacks at home. In fact it's now 4 wins-in-a-row v the ABs which hadn't been done since 1949. Not always pretty and too many penalties conceded at the breakdown, but with 2 tries to nil, it was a deserved triumph.👏 #Springboks #RSAvNZL

Well, it was traditionally the wingers who threw the ball into the lineout. (Check out old vids from 60s even early 70s) Seeing that this week we were discussing the haka and how it is a rugby tradition, perhaps it just shows that Rassie too is a traditionalist at heart! 😅😅
