Very sad news - Martin Leach, former NOW stalwart has died. His son, Matthew, has written a wonderful tribute. John Richardson sportsjournalists.co.uk/journalism-new… #RIP

It’s been a hugely busy week for us at ManchesterWorld covering both #MCFC & #MUFC ahead of the Manchester derby. Below is a 🧵on some of our latest articles ahead of #MCIMUN tomorrow ⬇️

Great to chat to Karan Tejwani earlier this week about his new book, Glorious Reinvention, and what #MUFC can expect from their new manager Erik ten Hag.

This is tragic news. A great reporter and top bloke. Andy gave me one critical piece of advice at a key point of my MEN career. It helped me so much and I will be forever grateful for it.

What a day. Visited RHS Bridgewater. Joined the RHS. Played a bit of golf. Had a pint. Something decent happened in cricket and at Wimbledon. Now the govt is collapsing. Having a glass of wine. After 46 years as a football journo great to enjoy something else. #retirement

My daughter asked my 3 year old granddaughter if she wanted to play football like the #Lionesses in the future. “No, I want to be in Frozen” she replied! Oh well, you can’t convince them all.

This is my first full season I won’t be working since 1975. Football was my hobby, career and passion. Am I bereft and empty? No 😁 But I know it still means everything to so many so have a great season and may all your footie dreams come true.

IMO this all goes back to the “We’re Man United, we do what we want,” culture. There’s good arrogance and destructive arrogance. Too much of the latter. All will be ok because of who we are. Naive and shameful. It’s going to be a long way back. Time for some humility. #mufc

This brings back memories of Fergie being so impressed with Newcastle’s fans’ show of their colours that he instructed me to organise a flag day for Wembley ‘99. So I got the MEN got on board and produced a flag on every United seat….never thanked me!!!! 🤣

Welcome Simon Bajkowski to the exclusive local paper reporter Treble Club. The Christmas parties have been a bit lonely since #mufc 1999. Thought I was going to be the sole member forever. As a Fallowfield born #mcfc Blue so pleased.

Desperately sad news about Gordon McQueen. Always available for a chat when I was at the MEN. Lovely, funny man. Love to HAYLEY MCQUEEN and the family.

As a fellow Fallowfield lad I was privileged to see Paul’s two-goal debut v WBA at Maine Road in 67-68. Honoured then to become an MEN colleague. We had some bloody good laughs in the office and on our travels. A fund of hilarious stories. God bless Hincey.

Very sad news about the passing of Sir Bobby Charlton. A bona fide legend for United, England and worldwide football. Also very warm, kind, helpful and generous with his time whenever I interviewed him for the MEN.

Wonderful, lovely tribute to a wonderful, lovely man. JC was great company and a one off. I recall his one bar electric fire he took to Birmingham City’s press box (pre health and safety). Everybody was laughing but he had the last laugh because we were freezing. God bless JC
