Boris Johnson said in 2004 that he would eat his ID at a polling station in protest if the law ever required it.

In 2022, he passed a law requiring ID to vote and dismissed criticism it would stop people voting.

In 2024, he forgot his ID when trying to vote and was turned away.

Sensational line from Sky News on Boris Johnson being turned away today for not bringing acceptable photo ID:

“Polling station staff were forced to turn the former prime minister after he initially failed to comply with legislation he introduced while he was in Downing Street.”

Excellent, nuanced column by Ed Luce on the US student protests:

'It would be far more worrying if the young were indifferent to the deaths of thousands of children, some of them at the hands of US-supplied munitions.'

I simply don't get why the Tories didn't field a serious candidate for London Mayor.
Surely they haven't completely got rid of all the sensible folk and have one in a cupboard somewhere they could wheel out again. The candidate they put up is just... just... inexplicably bad

'Russian disruption in Europe points to patterns of future aggression.'

Joining the dots between GPS jamming, sabotage, reconnaissance of key logistics links and other stuff we expected Russia to practice ahead of a broader conflict with Europe.

Says everything about the declining value of 30p Lee that, two years on, the high inflation resulting from his work hasn't made him 33p Lee *

Grab your photo ID and get out and vote!

It’s not about voting for perfection, it’s about voting a far right party out of power.

If a bear in poor health can do it then so can you! No excuses!

Let’s do it!

and shout-out 👏to Ben Chu who consistently on BBC Newsnight points out that asylum applications to the UK per pop are WAY LOWER than most EU countries 👇

Contrary to most UK media and politicians whose 'they're all coming here' narrative encourages Rwanda-enabling hysteria

As you seek out your ID before heading to the polling station, remember that over the last decade, there have been more Tory MPs convicted of sexual offences than voters convicted of electoral fraud

Social media advertising can swing how people vote for... surprisingly little outlay, according to a new study of the 2021 German federal election. By me for New Scientist, for you to ponder on this election day newscientist.com/article/242955…

The UK radio industry, from having dozens of outlets 25 yrs ago, now dominated by two companies: Global and Bauer. Whatever happened to Sangita Myska we’re potentially into that omertà situation similar to Murdoch and the press.

This of one of the most upsetting articles I've read about . About the children killed & severely injured by Israeli bombing of , the 'safe' zone. There are 600,000 children there & Netanyahu wants to go ahead with the ground invasion. Horrific
