Some schools seem incapable of making the link between their ethos and #SEND exclusion stats. The fact IS their ‘high expectations’ mean excluding #SEND and they pretend #SEND have increased ‘poor’ behaviour news.sky.com/story/pupils-e…

"The government is to delay publishing its long-awaited overhaul of SEND provision in England as ministers seek to build a coalition among parents to support its changes" No surprise if true, given the strength of feeling of MPs at the recent debate. theguardian.com/education/2025…

An £11,000 payout for a family under the appalling Suffolk CC SEND Services. Probably the largest I've ever seen. Hopefully LG & SC Ombudsman will start to realise SCCs 'compliance' with recommendations are as bullshit as the promised improvements. lgo.org.uk/decisions/educ…

The Pandemic of Punishment Researchers found children with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) were more than twice as likely as their peers to be placed in isolation. 1 in 12 pupils spend an average of 8.5 hours a week there. This isn’t support. It’s harm,

The law on #SEND isn’t failing. It’s being systematically undermined from within. Our new article for Special Needs Jungle examines how accountability in public office has broken down- and what it will take to restore it.

It’s National Adoption Week 2025 🧡 We’re resharing an article from last year by Kate from our Legal Team, who’s also an adoptive parent. She explores the challenges adopted children can face in education, and explains the support available. #NAW25 ipsea.org.uk/news/securing-…

Where did these Isolation Rooms come from? In 2007, Geoff Barton, the then headteacher at King Edward VI School in Bury St Edmunds, proudly introduced what he called an “exclusion room.” ipswichstar.co.uk/news/21945214.… Students were placed in surveillance-monitored booths, forbidden

"Mr Barton said the exclusion room meant badly behaved pupils simply “disappeared”." Yes - that's Mr Barton the government's advisor on INCLUSION! SEND children disproportionately subject to seclusion/isolation UNCRC recommend UK explicitly prohibit seclusion in schools.

1/ A while ago I was given a face to face apology from the new director of CYP Services Sarah-Jane Smedmor and Cabinet member for SEND/education Cllr Andrew Reid, for all the failures of my 2 SEND kids. I've done 8 Tribunals and had multiple upheld Ombudsman complaints.

Am I qualified to comment on education, especially legal/SEND areas as I'm "not a teacher"?🧵 I've advocated successfully, had 2 independent panels uphold in our favour, tribunal wins & a landmark case....
