Ultimately, nations prioritize their own interests over everything. It has always been this way. Soaring rhetoric about democracy and human rights is fine when there is little cost in doing so, but when push comes to shove, values always take a back seat to power and realpolitik.

Michiganders deserve to live in a state that recognizes the value of diversity & rejects the notion that our own civil rights law could be used as a tool of discrimination. This ruling is a victory for the LGBTQ+ community, for all MI residents, & one that’s long overdue.
