I feel it’s pretty consensus that 5 days / week in the office is unnecessary, but I haven’t seen the take that 8+ hours / day in the office is also unnecessary. 4-5 hour office workdays + 3-4 hours working from home in the AM / PM is huge for working parents.

This might surprise you as a developer, but one of the side effects of growing in your IC (Individual Contributor) role is that you will write less code and more documentation. Documentation related to design, architecture, pros/cons and even on people and teams!
