House Education Committee did not call a meeting for later today before House adjourned, so Mississippi House of Representatives has killed 2 Senate pay raise bills. Senate convenes at 4:00. Senate Ed & Appropriations will need to call meetings & pass HB 530 or teacher pay raise will be dead.

Senate went back in and both Senate Ed and Senate Appropriations called committee meetings.

Senate Education takes up strike all for HB 530. Inserts Senate’s language and adds $1,000 pay raise for teacher assistants each year. Chairman @DennisDeBar1 commends Senate Ed members for being adults and taking politics out of the teacher pay raise issue.
