😂 Both Tarik Moataz and I really appreciate your and the entire lab’s patience (especially all the rescheduled meetings!) while we worked on this

.MongoDB is making a serious investment in encrypted search & cryptography in general and creating a new crypto research group in New York City.

Seny Kamara (@senykam) 's Twitter Profile Photo

There will be an affiliated workshop at CRYPTO 22 on the Theory and Practice of Encrypted Search where we will discuss some of the challenges that come up when designing encrypted search algorithms for a real database platform.

It’s also pretty cool that MongoDB was co-founded by Brown CS alumni and that I run into a bunch of our students there on a regular basis (including some of my CS 16 students and TAs!)

People have been telling me encrypted search wasn’t going anywhere since the early 2000s. Luckily I’ve never really cared about what people think

We're excited to announce the 1st Workshop on the Theory and Practice of Encrypted Search (TPES) on which is affiliated with CRYPTO '22: esl.cs.brown.edu/tpes/ Thanks to our sponsors MongoDB & Google we have funding for students who would like to attend

Messenger is announcing one of its incremental E2EE rollouts today, which...good! But Meta says the timing is long-planned and unrelated to revelations that the company was compelled by law enforcement to hand over chat data in the Nebraska abortion case wired.com/story/meta-mes…

We recently had major end-to-end encryption announcements from MongoDB (Queryable Encryption) & Meta (Messenger). To hear more about the crypto behind these announcements come see Tarik Moataz Kenn White and Jon Millican ‘s talks at TPES on Saturday: esl.cs.brown.edu/tpes/
