I’ve been following this heartbreaking story from Duxbury in the US. The husband of Lindsay Clancy, who allegedly strangled their 3 children whilst suffering postpartum psychosis, has released a statement:

I called these ‘mental health hearts’ - a handmade heart in our hospital self-care boxes. This started as a way to get the wider community involved in our project. They are intended to be a small keepsake of connection and hope. More hearts are always appreciated & needed! 🙏

Special Easter delivery for the Mums on the Mother & Baby Unit at Wythenshawe hospital. Had lots of help from my 6 year old although she doesn’t yet know she was once in that Unit with me 💜

Amazing co-training day today with Action on Postpartum Psychosis and Greater Manchester Mental Health Have taken away lots of info, insight & inspiration! It’s a huge privilege to now be a peer support worker on the same ward where I was a patient w. postpartum psychosis in 2016 (photo shared with permission!)

Borderline personality disorder is not an 'illness of character'. It is an umbrella term that enables contempt, abuse and neglect both in and outside of psychiatric services. It covers up complex trauma, neurodivergence, discrimination, bipolar and PMDD, sometimes fatally.

New mum seems strange? Seek help. It could be postpartum psychosis, a treatable medical emergency. Help make an urgent appointment with their doctor, midwife, health visitor or call 111. If you think there is imminent danger, call 999. With help they will recover.

Next Tuesday is #WorldSuicidePreventionDay. We’ll be sharing content about this over the coming days and encourage people to take care of themselves if they find this difficult. We know many of us will be thinking about those who sadly didn't recover from postpartum psychosis 💜
