Here's the state of northeast snow following our fourth (?) southern slider type storm this season. Still waiting for a nor'easter. Will it ever come? Great season for parts of the DMV.

Global ensembles have been consistent with a midweek storm that is progressive/out of phase. Now the controls/deterministics are regressing to the ensemble mean. It's another win for probabilistic forecasting and old-time adages like "it snows where it wants to snow".

Shout out to the great regional climate centers that went dark today. Had great relationships with the folks at SERCC and MRCC and we've made a lot of great broadcast-friendly graphics and automation with their data and tools.

June 1st is the end of our CONUS snow season and what a fun one it was. Winner: southeast -- many locations had once-in-a lifetime type snow in January which accumulated up to a foot in parts of LA and the FL Panhandle. Loser: the Northern tier through the Northeast, again...

6-hour maximum MRMS QPE over the 4th and 5th show, in some locations, a 1-in-1000 year event from this weekend's interior Texas flooding. What stands out to me is how incredibly localized the return periods are. This part of the world is no stranger to flash flooding. FOX Weather

Got a social memory today from about 13 years ago when I was fresh out of weather school and applying for jobs everywhere. I would eventually cross off every name on this list and another before landing my first job. I'm very thankful to be where I am today.
