Congratulations to our Christmas Fair prize winner whose special request was to spend break time with the chickens. Bravo, for daring to hold and feed them. Westbrook Hay School

As part of Year One's Materials topic, we went to the Science Lab to investigate materials and their properties. The children thoroughly enjoyed testing the strength of materials by hanging weights from them.

Reception went over to the science lab to take part in a science workshop all about planets. They even saw some previous Westbrook Hay children with Tim Peake! Reception had a fantastic afternoon and we are looking forward to the next workshop all about dinosaurs. #timpeake

After weeks of incredible hard work by our maintenance team our children enjoyed their new science laboratory for the first time today. The new mural pays tribute to science achievements over time and we hope will be inspirational for our children for years to come.

It is switch off week Westbrook Hay and in assembly we recited our Eco Code. This has been written by the children and is a great way to begin a week of activities to improve our environment. We are firmly committed to achieving our Green Flag status @EcoSchoolsEngland.

Our Year 3 children made bee-bombs as part of their science plant workshop. Our bee-bombs, made of clay shells, soil and 1000’s of seeds, were thrown in the peter rabbit garden. We are looking forward to seeing the wild meadow flowers in a couple of months. #togetherness

Year 2 having serious fun. Their experiments show soap and water were the best way to wash hands, and sneezing into their sleeves stop the spread of diseases. Poor whiteboard ‘person’ got spattered (in house colours) despite all the handkerchief protection. Westbrook Hay School
