QVHS science department celebrated Halloween by dressing up as the visible portion of the electromagnetic spectrum 🤓👨‍⚕️〰️〰️〰️〰️

We’ve noticed some questionable driving on Beaver Street, so Concept Physics students designed & tested a speed trap in front of QVHS. Now we’ve got data to analyze 📊 to make recommendations to local officials to make this busy road safer for all.

Pitt International Airport is finally reporting a temperature above freezing for the first time in nine days! It was last above freezing on January 13th at roughly 8:20 AM.

Physics students were curious how the motors they are using in their Sea Air Land Challenge robots work, so we dove into the phenomena of electromagnetism. They purposefully took apart a motor, thinking about the parts, their purposes, and the complexities that allow it to work!

Beautiful day for this term’s SeaPerch competition. Students put their learning about measurement, circuits, buoyancy, and engineering design to work on their designs. So much success that the competition was especially tight to determine our winners!

QVHS Sea Air Land team Skyhawks earned their FAA TRUST drone pilot certification today! 🚁 Next up: continuing to design, test, and implement their solution to this year Air competition 🛠️

QVHS Bio Ss are collecting data to assess the health of our local Little Sewickley Creek ecosystem. Measuring abiotic (temp, pH, dissolved O2) levels and inventorying macro 🔍 and micro 🔬 invertebrate diversity. We will publish our findings backed by our data. 📊
