No. Canada has often failed in the past to prioritize clearly, and assertively pursue, its interests. It's more than past time for Canada to be much more realist and pragmatic in pursuing its interests. Not doing so would be much more costly than its complacency in the past was.

This is what โ€œremoving the sign from the windowโ€ looks like. No pollyanna exhortations to international law. No calls for UN action. This is a clear-eyed statement of Canadian interests. It will no doubt upset many. It is nevertheless what a realistic foreign policy looks like.

The outcome of this case is a positive demonstration that Canadaโ€™s justice system works. Self-defence is recognized in Canadian law, and when all the facts are carefully reviewed, the system is capable of reaching fair and appropriate decisions.

PM Carney on Iran: "Canada's position on the developments in the ME remains clear. Iran is the principal source of instability and terror throughout the ME. It has one of the world's worst human rights records and must never be allowed to obtain or develop nuclear weapons."

Prime Minister Mark Carney underscored Canada's support for US efforts to prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon but noted that Ottawa was not involved with the military planning reut.rs/47gTCg9

Yes. Thatโ€™s right. Itโ€™s not something he missed. Whatโ€™s your point. Back the Ayatollah? Against America? Not sure where youโ€™re going with this. We are in a new world. The positions Carney is taking are realpolitik. They are not โ€œwe are with Americaโ€. They are โ€œwe stand

Khamenei is dead. Good. But I have family in Iran. My dad is there right now. And I'm not celebrating yet. Here's why. Iran built the most layered contingency plan on Earth for this exact moment. Four levels of succession for every key position. Pre-authorized military strikes.

Canada would have had nothing to gain by opposing Trump. Doing so would have had led to no positive impact. Trump would have remembered a finger-wagging lecture on international norms(with nothing to back up the rhetoric)*; the only impact would have been negative for Canada.

That Americans including Democrats think it's OK to just react and unilaterally bomb a sovereign country is disturbing. I like to think women will now be free in Iran, but now the race is on by younger misogynists to fill the power vacuum. Women and kids always suffer the war

Canada strongly condemns the targeting of the State of Qatar by Iran. Canada stands with Qatar and all partners in the region in efforts to safeguard security and prevent further escalation.

Canada stands with the United Arab Emirates as it defends itself against Iranโ€™s attempts to escalate the conflict. Canada will continue working with allies and partners to support stability and reinforce collective security.

Look I'm a pragmatist. I'm not against taking out bad guys. But there has to be a plan and a broad consensus for such actions. Otherwise any rogue state could concoct some bogus justification to act unilaterally.
