Alleluia! The Church of England has decided to give some of the billions it was left to fund parish ministry back to poorer parishes. This is good news and we’re delighted the church is listening to Save the Parish.

But it’s not all good: they’ve decided to tie that money up in their failed Vision and Strategy and make parishes dance like performing monkeys for the money that’s rightfully theirs. We had hoped they’d learned from the costly failures of the last decade not to do this.

‘What will stabilise things is a well-motivated clergy workforce which is well-supported and well-financed’. My interview with Bishop of Hereford who’s calling for less of Commissioners’ money to be allocated through grants & more to prevent clergy cuts churchtimes.co.uk/articles/2025/…

Bishop David has begun his incumbency with a pilgrimage which included visiting 82 Cornish parishes in 11 days. This is good for Cornwall.

Given the Church Commissioners input to parishes, and Bishops, such as Bishop of Hereford calling on emphasis on quality parish ministry, surely the time has come to flatten bloated management and officers in The Church of England and reduce in number diocesan apparatchiks.

For every £1 that’s invested in a church building, £16 of social value is created. Our Chair, Philip Rutnam, in the The Times and The Sunday Times today calls for government departments to consider partnering with local churches to meet their ambitious targets following the #SpendingReview

Congratulations to everyone being ordained later this month, at #Petertide. 👏 Being clergy is a calling, but it's not always easy. From the moment you're ordained, you join a family that we're privileged to support and walk alongside. If you need us, you know where we are.

The Feasts of St Wenappa and St Veep today. Nothing is known of these holy people. Perhaps local Cornish saints. Perhaps the same person. Lost in the mists of time.
