💯. It’s super apparent when I train a naive NHP vs one that’s done tasks. The strategies initially explored are seemingly very different. As our field moves towards more complex tasks (where different strategies are equally viable!), tracking training history might be required.

Pleased to see MINT on the road to someday helping patients. MINT is a novel BMI decoding algorithm that leverages recent findings regarding trajectory geometry. Congrats to Sean Perkins, Karen Schroeder, J. Cunningham, Qi Wang. Thxs Chethan Pandarinath for NLB'21. Explanatory video to follow.

I designed a neural decode algorithm (MINT) with Mark Churchland. Very excited to team up with Blackrock Neurotech who will use MINT to restore movement to patients with paralysis! Huge thanks to collaborators Karen Schroeder, John Cunningham, and Qi Wang. Video demo in thread (1/4)

One more fact When Delta was dominant: An average of 1200 Americans died each day When Omicron was dominant An average of 2200 Americans died every day So this "milder" virus with 75% lower CFR killed nearly twice as many Americans every day 6/7

Texas AG Ken Paxton has declared all forms of gender-affirming care for trans youth child abuse under existing law, threatening parents and doctors with prosecution and forcing all mandated reporters of child abuse to report trans kids to state agencies. dallasnews.com/news/politics/…

Check out Shantini’s awesome work that she put a lot of hard effort into! I’m sadly not in the experimental group but perhaps some of you are!

Thanks so much @nicolemlynaryk and @SCglobalbrain for this wonderful piece highlighting some really fascinating work, including some of our ongoing research!

Really proud of this modeling work led by Laura Driscoll (with Krishna Shenoy). We believe we've found a computational structure between the individual neuron and the entire network in RNNs. We call this structure a "dynamical motif." 👇👇👇
