They say I’m a teacher or a professor. But my students teach and inspire me every day. I’m somewhat jealous of their idealism, enthusiasm, zeal and desire to improve the world. They make me optimistic for the future.

If you want to restore your faith in people, spend some time with public defenders. They care about and fight for the poor and marginalized, they’re relentlessly optimistic and they will wear an orange suit to court to protest the unfairness of jail clothes.
