Today I had the opportunity to visit East Toronto Chinese Baptist Church and see how the young leaders they've hired through our Canada Summer Jobs program are helping local youth have a great summer. Thanks for the visit!

Met the hardworking team of Habitat for Humanity GTA and their Canada Summer Jobs student yesterday. It was a pleasure hearing about your exciting projects providing affordable housing to residents of the GTA, and how the CSJ program is able to help with staffing this summer.

Joined the Tamil community this morning in commemorating Black July. We honour the victims of this tragedy from 42 years ago and continue our commitment to helping build a peaceful world, free of hatred and violence, for all people.

Had a fantastic time at SACHAYS Volunteer Appreciation Day. Grateful for all the amazing volunteers who make a difference in our community, and it was wonderful to celebrate them with great food, music, and unforgettable moments!

Last Friday we held the last of this year’s weeklong Ice Cream Festival, and what a week it was. We absolutely enjoyed talking to everyone who came out to see us in the various neighborhoods that we visited. And a big shoutout to our hardworking volunteers!

Honoured to receive this recognition from the Uyghur Rights Advocacy Project. We affirm Canada as a safe haven for people around the world suffering from oppression. The fight for justice and humanity continues!

Earlier this week, I had the pleasure of visiting Wilmar Heights Baptist Church. It was great meeting the Canada Summer Jobs students and connecting with the campers at their day camp. Investing in our future starts with moments like these.

I commend Canada’s decision to recognize the State of Palestine, and I look forward to seeing meaningful progress toward lasting peace, security, and prosperity for both Palestinians and Israelis.

Yesterday I visited the Skyway Christian Assembly’s music camp, and I loved meeting all the students in the Canada Summer Jobs program and all the kids at the camp. It was great to see all the good being done by the program this summer.

A new airlift of Canadian aid landed in Gaza today, with thanks to His Majesty King Abdullah II and our Jordanian partners. Canada is dedicating more than $340 million in aid to address the humanitarian crisis in Gaza — and we will ensure it moves forward at the necessary scale.

I had a wonderful visit to Grace Place this week. I enjoyed meeting with all the students who are a part of the Canada Summer Jobs program this summer. It was wonderful to see all the great work done at the day camp and also at their food bank.

Today on Emancipation Day, even as we celebrate the strength and perseverance of Black communities across Canada, we urge all Canadians to reflect and engage in the ongoing fight against anti-Black and anti-Indigenous racism and discrimination.
