Workers have the freedom to strike. It is protected by the Charter. Using the notwithstanding clause to suspend workers rights is an affront to democracy.

Economic slowdown to wipe out $1.6 trillion from Canadian wealth, mostly from home values: RBC - They are hoping. It will likely be double if not triple that over the next few years.

Landlord licensing leads to higher rents and more bureaucracy. #ottcity #ottnews "a licensing program would ensure landlords would be charged a small fee per rental unit to license their properties and be put on a registry for annual health inspections." cbc.ca/lite/story/1.6…

#KanataSouth please don’t accept the demonizing of CUPE-OSBCU - they’re our frontline education workers. Our schools’ EAs, ECEs, custodians, librarians & more. 51% work a 2nd job to make ends meet, 91% are facing financial hardship & 60% are laid off each summer. #IStandWithCUPE

why wouldn't NFPs do well when in the latest #Ottawa #housing and #homelessness plan they ensured their funding is fixed regardless how many clients they serve? #shelters are NOT homes! #HousingCrisis #HousingForAll #dignity #humanity #SDG1 #SDG2 #SDGs

we have had #HousingDisaster since 1998. we know 1 in 3 #newcomer families have suffered from the #HousingCrisis & more than half homeless ppl are newcomers but we'll bring 400K+ more immigrant/year & pay NGOs to sell the story that supply/demand don't apply to #housing market.

I am a Capitalist but communities are allowed to decide what they should be and if density is the future we MUST build for families There's many other changes to make but if we don't stop adding $185K to every new build before a shovel goes in the ground everything gets worse

In ways not easily available in the past The message is clear: Regulators and Government are beginning to grasp this mortgage payment issue All those who may be genuinely worried about how to handle unmanageable payment increases: CALL your lender Don't wait Be persistent

Claiming that homeless shelters are a solution to our housing crisis is like claiming that giving up plastic straws will solve pollution. 🤡 They are a distraction amidst a tidal wave of government failures. 🌊 If shelters are housing, then our leaders should try living in them.

I remember being homeless in the freezing winter and discovering a heated parkade in the West End of Vancouver and thinking they care more about heating for cars but not for people who are homeless.

I met with someone today that purchased their house in May 2022 for $1.1 million, the house is now worth $925,000, there mortgage payment has gone from $4,700 per month to $8,500, both are now working two jobs trying to keep up. The latest rate hike has put them over the edge.
