An '18 analysis by Saginaw Bay WIN indicated that up to 15,000 systems around Saginaw Bay are failing, releasing 1.26 billion gal of sewage yearly. This translates to filling nearly 2,000 Olympic-size swimming pools every year with untreated sewage. is.gd/LGZNbL

We were in northern Michigan last night celebrating with the Michigan Outdoor Writer's Association. In particular, an award presented to Steve Griffen who has been a longtime advocate and supporter of the sturgeon restoration program in the Saginaw system! Thank you Steve!

Happy Earth Day. Good news from U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, due to ongoing restoration efforts that have increased numbers of lake sturgeon across their range, they will not be listed as an endangered species. This is a big win for the collaborative effort to bring this fish back from the brink.
