A study for Changelings, based on an old family photograph. The figure on the left is my grandmother, who I never met, she died before I was born. In the photo, Grandma and friend have dressed up in soldier's uniforms and posed accordingly. I still marvel at their cheekiness.

Finished (I think) this painting, I Put This Moment Here. I feel as though I have been quite brave with the colour, which I find exciting - it's reminding me of 1970s postcards, but orignal image is black and white from the 1950s. #figurepainting #oilpainting

When you visit old friends from the past for a catch-up and not only did we chat like we had never been apart - but then you find one of your old paintings (another old friend) in their living room made more beautiful with their reflections and collagey window cut outs.

Helicon player from the Native Oyster Band, playing at the Magnet last night. The helicon is the most mysterious, non-sensical instrument in terms of drawing! My rubber has repetitive strain injury... Brilliant gig though - #broadstairsfolkweek2025 #thanksforthemusic #drawinglive

Wonderful day closeted with my lovely Mimi, trying to capture her before she goes off to uni. Such a significant moment this transitional stage, and I'm not gonna lie, I will miss her... May the road rise with you favourite granddaughter x #shesleavinghome #alaprima #oilportrait

...as an artist, I am fascinated with sensory perception and how art can speak in multi-sensory ways, providing a shortcut or short circuit to the subconscious, accessing deeper layers of feeling. And Jenny Saville’s work speaks volumes." ruthgeldard.wordpress.com #jennysaville

People often ask me how I draw the musicians as they move so much, and it's true that yesterday, I needed patience and perseverance when drawing ace guitar player Billy Lingood but really good music always helps me to stay focused. #thankyouforthemusic #drawinglive #portrait

Work in progress, Stand - first in new series, based on old black and white family photographs, we don't know if it's me or my husband, but no matter - we've all been there... #oilpainting #figurepainting #childhood
