As I did we get creative with the evidence there is and use plenty of the excellent case studies that do get published, examples of QI that make it into public domain, national audit and benchmarking- the stuff is out there it just needs to be pulled into a compelling argument..

The more important point is that if it was as simple as "buying more beds", this would've been fixed. The reasons for delayed discharges are varied and complex. health.org.uk/publications/l…

Ministers sitting on 26 requests to intervene in service reconfigurations.. This will keep the Clinical Senates busy for a while… hsj.cdn.wilmingtonplc.com/2024/07/02/min…

And not wishing to undermine a diligent & thorough national review I think we can safely say the NHS isn’t performing at a level consistent with arbitrarily determined standards🙄 And I see a 10 year NHS plan has been commissioned-but wait..don’t we got one of those already? 🤔

Given ⁦⁩we can finally agree the NHS was planning for the ‘wrong pandemic’ -it begs the question why current ⁦NHS England⁩ EPRR planning appears to only prioritise influenza..?🤔⁩ bbc.com/news/articles/…

This is just a bad idea all round- ultimately those with unmet complex care needs land into health services in crisis with no where else to go Sorting out the NHS requires sorting out the social care system- or soon we will end up with neither 🤷‍♂️ bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

Open vacancies for NEDs at DHSC to check & challenge Ministers and Government officials on strategy and future direction among other things. All relevant skills in the business of health and social care delivery I am sure.. Oddly no apparent need for skills in health care 🤔

Very pleased to see this finally come to fruition after 4 years hard work to get ACHA funded and off the ground. Its in great hands with three fantastic senior academics an outstandingly talented Director and Board.

Given the NHS England emphasis on building a workforce focused on multimorbidity, frailty and cognitive health.. I think it’s about time in the UK we evolved a Royal College of Geriatricians.. Just saying😏

Adam Gordon MBE (@adamgordon1978) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Martin Vernon NHS England Getting NHS England to recognise challenges around the workforce for an ageing population outlined by British Geriatrics Society would be a start. We have asked for data on the wider workforce to help us move beyond #moregeriatricians but are told these aren't available. bgs.org.uk/MoreGeriatrici…

Martin Vernon NHS England Perhaps a start would be to train sufficient geriatricians....need a massive increase in NTNs. As far a a royal college is concerned there is an attractiveness about it, but British Geriatrics Society is already doing an amazing job
