Yep…colleague of mine in a special school. School appealed on her behalf that her class wouldn’t cope with a supply and we couldn’t cover her leave. Was told children have to manage if teachers get called to JS, didn’t understand the difficulties this would cause #ASD children.

If you’re doing things in school that are #justforsocialmedia … don’t. Do things for the children. Yes, give them a welcome. But it doesn’t have to be this big, or intense. This would have horrified some #ASD children. It would’ve horrified me as a teacher. Just don’t.

I left early on Tuesday, it was my son’s first day back at school and whilst his Nan is happy to have him I wanted to be there when he got home. I got glared at for leaving at ‘home time’ for teachers. As most stay well into the evening. Why do we discourage #Wellbeing

I’ll hold my hands up and say that I’ve not listened to this. However, I would like to say that 100s of children with autism do go through the school system with success. I’ve encountered lots of autistic people that fared well in school. #autism #SEND

Not every #send child needs a special school. Parents, mainstream staff and the child need to visit special schools and see this. #SpecialSchools aren’t a plaster to fix everything.

Yes However, throw a mainstream child into a special school… then THEIR education will suffer you’ll be putting a ceiling on their learning, limiting their social opportunities, expose them to behaviours that they don’t need to be. The grass isn’t greener in a #specialschool

I think what bothers me most about people school/teacher bashing is because they’ve had one bad experience they generalise it to ALL #teachers and #schools are terrible and we’re ALL failing #SEND children… and bash/berate us all. #SENDParents #edutwitter
