Finally Rob Martin and others have a limited pass to fish ropeless lobster gear in some closed areas. Those who heard "The Song of the Right Whale" on BBC Sounds will appreciate this update from David Abel bostonglobe.com/2023/03/01/sci… via The Boston Globe

Looking forward to midnight GMT in the company of Reya El-Salahi on Times Radio when we’ll do our bit to discern the UK gov’s newly announced/updated/revisited migration policy

Huge congratulations to Gabriel Gatehouse on winning Best Podcast in the Broadcasting Press Guild Awards for The Coming Storm. I was hooked long ago, and it is truly awesome.

Stormy Mayo of the Center for Coastal Studies, featured in The Song of the Right Whale podcast, tells the Boston Globe today that right whales are lingering longer in Cape Cod Bay because of a shortage of the tiny copapods they feed on further north. bostonglobe.com/2023/04/06/sci…

All my sympathy to the family of the late great Brian O’Donovan of WGBH and the New England Patriots. Beyond his impeccable musical contacts in the Celtic diaspora and in the respective old countries, Brian was as kind and generous a human being as we can be. We’ll all miss him.

Jim Naughtie’s elegant, informative and timely late interview with this colossus of the American century bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m0…

Steve had both intelligence and humanity, a remarkably rare combination in broadcasters. His MBE shows how much we all thought of him

All things considered, I lament. As a constituency MP he was kind, and approachable. Nothing would have been the same without him.

Roughly 30 years and millions of happy listeners later, those who argued that Up All Night (Up All Night) was a waste of money finally have their way. My sympathy to those in BBC Radio 5 Live management forced into this shotgun marriage and to all ex-colleagues losing jobs.

Rhod Sharp (@rhod_sharp) 's Twitter Profile Photo

A better way both for listeners and producers’ careers was the road not taken which I advocated at parting and before of combining 5Live overnight with BBC World Service output. Salute to the first show on any BBC network to truly follow the sun. What’s old is new again.

Once more unto the breach as Henry Bonsu has invited me to be his midnight friend on Times Radio. Quite likely we’ll shed a tear for the vice president who came to Munich looking for love and lost it when he opened his mouth.

Rhod Sharp (@rhod_sharp) 's Twitter Profile Photo

If it’s Friday, the vice president must be offending somebody somewhere. I expect we’ll talk about this on another of my occasional visits with Henry Bonsu on Times Radio tonight at midnight

RIP Paddy Higson, “mother of Scottish film” for good reason. I hope to bring her monumental contribution into my conversation tonight with Henry Bonsu on Times Radio
