AI’s data appetite is fueling a massive, opaque residential proxy market. iTnews & IPinfo – IP Data Provider’s analysis shows how deep the overlap runs. Worth a read. itnews.com.au/news/ai-data-h…

TIL that the "fm" TLD belongs to Micronesia. Great TLD for music streaming services (e.g. last.fm). Hopefully, we can get a ProbeNet PoP there. ipinfo.io/countries/fm IPinfo – IP Data Provider #ipinfo

I feel like I see too many issues with Microsoft EntraID geolocation, but almost never with the other IAM platforms we have partnered with. There are literally users who are abandoning the native geolocation service and making a separate API call to IPinfo Lite.

A great article from MindYourPass that demonstrates a crucial point about data/cloud reliabilities, particularly for Dutch government IT services. I highly recommend giving it a read. mindyourpass.io/en/artikelen/r…

If-So ran their own benchmarks across multiple providers. IPinfo hit 82% city-level accuracy within 50 km. Their previous provider? 50%. Geolocation drives 50%+ of their sales now. Their API usage has nearly doubled every year since 2021. if-so.com/why-we-chose-i…

IPs using the "libredtail-http" request header are attempting many PHP exploits. They are categorized as hosting IPs, but not many identify them as abusive.

Today I had to investigate an incident, someone access one of our machines and install some malware. The idea was to know more about the attacker (I'll leave the post-mortem for another day), so I start with an IP. First, where is that located? We can use multiple tools for

One of the best signs that IP data is working? Silence. The CDN and firewall companies using our data have calm, happy communities. End users aren't complaining because everything just works. IPinfo – IP Data Provider as a vendor is invisible to end-users.

Standard IP geolocation tells you the city. IPinfo Places tells you the airport, hotel, or stadium. A new dataset that maps IP addresses to real-world venues using WiFi network observation. Now in public beta → ipinfo.io/data/places #IPdata #DevTools #IPIntelligence

This is a really common misconception. That’s definitely how most legacy geolocation providers do it, but it’s not how we do things at IPinfo – IP Data Provider - our geolocation is based on evidence and network observations, not on guesswork or outdated Whois data.
