OK, Chicago is not in something called "Yankeedom", and Philadelphia is not "the Midlands". They're part of the same nation. And that nation is called "Chicago and Philadelphia".

I'm almost 59 years old, and I've been waiting all my life to have one of these rare elite level closers in his prime on the #Phillies, and not it's *finally* happened. I was always so envious. And now it's everybody else's turn to stick it! #RingTheBell

My main memory of Ed Wade will always be a conversation I was having with my dad. He was very angry with Wade about something specific that I can't remember, and he said, "I'm so sick and tired of that ... that .... pipsqueak." 🤣🤣 I'd never heard him use that word in my life.

If the MVP were truly offered to most valuable player, the current leaders would be Pete Crow-Armstrong, Cristopher Sanchez, and Zack Wheeler. But of course, Ohtani will get it because he's been the opener for 7 bullpen games and pitched all of 15 innings.

It can't be stated enough how much Taijuan Walker has stepped up this year. Yeah, he's never to be what the #Phillies expected, but this guy could have packed it in after last year, and instead he rebuilt his approach. Always in great shape and professional. #RingTheBell

Also worth mentioning is that, if we're being truthful about it, Walker would be the third starter at worst for the Mets this season. Lol! #Phillies #RingTheBell

If you are wagering real money on a sport that is contested under the jurisdiction of "The Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario", place call 1-800-GAMBLER. Aren't the Blue Jays good this year? Don't they play almost every night? Lol!

Barkann is so unprofessional. This guy has to be the worst excuse for a journalist in Philadelphia. Completely misrepresented what Max said, which was actually pretty funny. Does anybody remember Barkann being good? It seems like forever ago he was reputable.

This guy is the Make-A-Wish kid of horse racing fans. Even when he's trying to post something semi-serious, it is totally childish and pollyannic, and it looks like it was composed by a second-grader who is "below basic" in writing.

I need to meet the person who parks himself in front a television on a weeknight in August and says, "You know, I feel compelled to take in a Little League game played by random 12-year-olds hundreds of miles away." LL baseball sucks! Lol! It's bad enough to watch your own kids.

I don't think I've ever seen a movie made in the 50's. I'm not a movie guy, but I feel like it's considered a dead period in cinema (though way ahead of today's standards, obviously). I feel like "12 Angry Men" and "On the Waterfront" are movies that would appeal to me, though.

The main issue with a pitcher like the #Phillies Ranger Suarez, who relies almost entirely on location and command, is that when he's not near perfect, his mistakes cost him significantly. This is a terrible pitch. I strongly suspect late-season issues are related to fitness.

I have literally not watched even one play of a preseason NFL game in at least 10 years. I used to be a regular at these games because I could always get free tickets, and it was a good way to spend an August evening. But now it's just an expensive hassle to go, and nobody plays.

Jerry LaRue (@realdonjunk) 's Twitter Profile Photo

When I started watching the NFL, there were 6 "exhibition" games and 14 regular season games. Lol! 30% of games were "exhibition" games. But ... if you wanted to see Roman Gabriel or Harold Carmichael, you got to see them. They were fun games used to prep the real players.

This piece is even dumber than I expected. Where was the federal government when Larry Bird, Bill Laimbeer, and Dennis Rodman were creating a hostile work environment for and violating the civil rights of Michael Jordan? wsj.com/opinion/the-wn…
